Joseph E. Hollister's Obituary
NEWARK: A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph E. Hollister, 72 of Newark will be 10:30 a.m. Friday May 15, 2015 at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church with Reverend JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mr. Hollister died Sunday May 10, 2015 at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville. He was born February 23, 1943 in Newark to the late William M. Hollister and Betty L. (Nutter) Willard.
Mr. Hollister retired in 2001 with 25 years of service as a route salesman for Mike Sells Potato Chips. He had formerly been employed with Rich Loaf and Pennington Bread. The past twelve years he has been an associate with the Vensil & Chute Funeral Home. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council # 721, Newark Maennerchor, and Teamsters Local 928 in Dayton. He was a former member of the Newark Jaycees and Young Republican Club.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Suzanne E. (Wright) Hollister, whom he married August 19, 1967; daughter, Aimee Hollister of Newark; a son, Michael (Stephanie) Hollister of San Diego, CA; granddaughters, Riley Hollister and Sofia Hollister; step-mother, Julia Fleischer of Newark; sister, Mamie (Bill) Clinkenbeard of Florida; brother, J.C. Willard of Newark; sisters-in-laws, Dixie Hollister of Newark, Linda Wright of Columbus; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Barb Boesch of Las Vegas; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Hollister, Jr.; sister, Nancy Humphries; brother-in-law, David Wright.
Calling hours will be observed Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m.
The family requests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 5555 Frantz Road, Dublin, OH 43017 or Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430 Newark, OH 43058-9909. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
