John F. Weitzel's Obituary
A funeral service for John F. Weitzel, 82 of Fairfield Beach will be held in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home Friday, February 24, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. L. Dudley Field officiating.
Mr. Weitzel died Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Mt. Carmel East Medical Center. He was born June 15, 1929 in Reading, PA. to the late Leroy and Mariam (Herm) Weitzel.
Mr.Weitzel had a military career that spanned 24 years. He was a member of the U. S. Army during WWII. He then enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and retired in 1970. He went on to work in the print shop of the Columbus office of the American Red Cross for 10 years. He then operated his own print shop until 1986, W.W. Printing, in Reynoldsburg.
He was a charter member of the Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church in Pickerington, Lifetime member of the Reynoldsburg VFW, National American Legion, NRA. He enjoyed traveling, golfing and telling stories. He was author of the book, A Lucky Man. After the love of his family and friends, was his love of music.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia (Bricker) Weitzel, whom he married March 19, 1964; daughter Leslie Wietzel of Fairfield Beach, several brother and sister in laws; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Margaret Aungstat, and six brothers.
Calling hours will be observed Friday 2 to 4 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
