Jean Hayes-Martinez's Obituary
Doris Jean Hayes-Martinez, "Jean",56, of San Antonio, TX passed away at the Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio surrounded by her family on May 2, 2014 due to terminal illness.
A graveside funeral service was held Friday May 16, 2014 at Newark Memorial Gardens with Pastor Reecior M. Puryear officiating.
Born on November 3, 1957 in Columbus, OH to Warren and
Savana Hayes. She is the eldest sister of Tommy Lee Hayes,
Melinda Davis, and Irene Hayes.
Married to Ivan Timothy Houpe of Columbus, OH (October 1987-
January 2008) and Larry Martinez of San Antonio, TX (December
2010 – )
Jean was a graduate of Newark High School. Jean
worked her way through the ranks at various large companies and
was known by her colleagues as a motivator and a leader. Her
enthusiasm was felt by all those around her. Jean is remembered
fondly for adding her flawless creativity to everything she touched.
Making a home wherever she went and serving all those who had
needs.
She attended Cornerstone Church in San Antonio and was a member of the San Antonio Christian Motorcycle Association
Jean is survived by her husband Larry Martinez; her son Ivan
Houpe Jr. and daughters Aja and Arren Houpe; her mother,
Savana Hayes; brother, Tommy Lee (Karen) Hayes; sisters, Melinda
Davis and Irene Hayes; step children, Eli (Lisa) Martinez, Naomi (Robert Esparaza) Martinez; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father,Warren Hayes.
