James E. "Nick" Nichols' Obituary
James E. "Nick” Nichols, 80 of Newark passed away on January 24, 2022 at his residence. He was born July 18, 1941 in Columbus to Benton and Christine (Baird) Nichols.
Jim stayed active throughout his life. He was a graduate of Heath High School. He volunteered several years with the Heath Fire Department. He also served In the U.S. Army and as a reservist in the Army National Guard. He retired from Owens - Corning Fiberglas with 35 years of service. He enjoyed yardwork, repairing lawn mowers and endeavors working with his hands. Pastimes included riding his bicycle, playing softball, bowling and for a period of time umpiring at Don Edwards Park. During retirement he spent his winters on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene (Darner) Nichols, of 33 years; daughters, Kim (Greg) Roulo of Columbus, Tricia (Steve) Sherwood of Marysville; step-sons, David (Jennifer) Williams of Cincinnati, Randy Williams of Newark; grandchildren, Amanda “Mandi” Baker (Philip Jones), Colin Sherwood, Griffin Sherwood, Delaney Sherwood, Kristina Prichard, Sam Williams, Jacob Williams, Darlene Williams, Maddie Williams; niece & nephew, Doug (Sandi) Darner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Hubers, step-daughter, Twanakay Williams.
