James W. Myers, Sr.'s Obituary
A funeral service for James W. Myers, Sr., 65 of Newark will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Sam Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
Mr. Myers was born February 23, 1950 in Newark to the late Emmett C. and Mary C. (Zimmerman) Myers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam era. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and Sharpshooter award. Mr. Myers retired from Owens-Corning after 42 years. He was a member of the Meadowview Church of Christ. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed riding his Harley, camping and the outdoors. Above all, he was a family man. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Debra (Winters) Myers; a son, James (Misty) Myers, Jr.; a daughter, Brenda Myers, all of Newark; grandchildren, Hannah Myers, Ashlyn Myers, and Colin Myers, all of Newark; sisters, Beverly Sheets of Chillicothe, Mary Lou (Homer) Ashcraft, Ellen (Charles) Rey, Karen (Bill) Hartshorn, Chris (Rick) Cline, all of Newark; special friend and cousin, Helen Bostick; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Williams.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
