James D. "Jim" Manuel's Obituary
A funeral service for James D. “Jim” Manuel, 79 of Newark will be held Wednesday August 20, 2014 at noon in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Gus Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Horeb Cemetery.
Mr. Manuel died Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born August 31, 1934 in Pulaski, VA to David E. and Mae (Meredith) Manuel.
Mr. Manuel was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. He had traveled the country extensively in his younger years. He was a former employee of Duplex Printing and was a part-time custodian for Licking Valley Schools. He enjoyed wood working, playing pool and watching NASCAR.
He is survived by a step-son, Jack (Saundra) Shinn; grandchildren, Lydia (George) Miller, Jack (Marie) Shinn,II, Sean (Rochelle) Shinn; great-grandchildren, Jordan Miller, Alyssa (Nate) Harris, Cameron (Nicole) Miller, Samantha Shinn, Elisha Cullins, Emilee Cullins all of Newark; sister-in-laws, Ellen Sims & family of Florida, Betty Richardson of Cuyahoga Falls, OH.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie G. (Geri) Manuel; parents and a brother, Donald.
Calling hours will be observed Wednesday from 11 am to noon at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 W. Main St.
