James R. "Jim" Baker's Obituary
A funeral service for James R. “Jim” Baker, 62 of Heath will be held Monday August 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Eric Miller officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Baker died Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the home of his daughter. He was born March 29, 1954 in Newark to the late Jess and Mildred (Braddock) Baker.
He recently retired from Boeing Aerospace and had been employed with Newark Air Force Base since 1979. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing, hunting and golfing. He was a handyman and minor auto mechanic. He followed The Ohio State Buckeyes. The family traveled to Myrtle Beach on many occasions for family vacations and he supported his grandchildren in all their sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary L. (Ross) Baker, whom he married September 28, 1973; daughters, Holly (Terry) Goodin of Thornville, Heather (Marty) Andrews of Monroe, Tiffany (Steve) Gioffre of Heath; grandchildren, Tarryn, Hunter, Hannah, Landon, Britton, Kasen, Konner, Kendall; sisters, Nancy Lou (Marion) Cole, Mary (Gary) Moffitt; brothers, Chuck (Nancy) Baker, Terry Lee Baker, Jeff (Renee) Baker, Mike (Annette) Baker, Greg (Tracie) Baker; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Baker and sister, Joann Lohrman.
Calling hours will be observed Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday August 21, 2016 at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 West Main Street.
