James A. Huffman's Obituary
A memorial service for James A. Huffman, 81 of Newark will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Huffman died Tuesday March 29, 2011 at the Newark Healthcare Centre. He was born April 4, 1929 in Licking County to the late Walter and Gertrude (Nadolson) Huffman.
Mr. Huffman retired in 1987 as a security guard at White-Westinghouse. He had also provided security at K-Mart and the Licking County Administration Building. He was a member of the Newark Eagles a former member of Cox United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Virginia K. (Smith) Huffman whom he married March 29, 1965; sons Tom (Linda) Huffman of Nebraska, John Huffman of Florida; step-children, Dean (Lisa) Hunt, Connie (Russ) Benson, Patricia (Charles “Butch” Miller) Wheeler all of Newark; numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren; sister, Doris (Jim) Adams of Newark; special friend, Grant Oliver; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Jerry Huffman and Paul Huffman.
A visitation will be observed one hour before services from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
