Iris K. Wagner's Obituary
Iris K. Wagner, 78, of Zanesville, Ohio, formerly of Adamsville, Ohio died Thursday morning, July 26, 2018 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville.
Born January 22, 1940 in Ironton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Roy Thomas Abel, Jr. and Lucynthia Geyer. Iris was raised by her maternal grandparents, James and Mary Adkins in Lawrence County, Ohio.
Mrs. Wagner was a member of Fairview Community Christian Church in Adamsville. She served on the board of trustees, taught Sunday school for many years and she wrote the church history. Iris was an avid reader, preferring historical and political subjects. She had a large vegetable garden and enjoyed cooking. She also enjoyed making quilts and other sewing projects, many of which she donated to benefits and charities.
Surviving is her loving husband of nearly 57 years, Gerald E. Wagner whom she married August 7, 1961. She and Gerald, together, owned and operated a farm near Adamsville for 54 years. Also surviving are two daughters, Cheryl (Dr. Eduardo) Jorge of Wilmington, North Carolina and Suzanne (Jim) Davis of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Brian (Anna) Wagner of Delaware, Ohio; three grandchildren, Brittany Lyons, Nicholas Lyons and Delaney Davis; four step grandchildren, Jennifer Dinsmore, Deborah, Ed and Jim Jorge and a brother, Doyle (Sandy) Rann of Chillicothe, Ohio.
Calling hours will be 4pm to 7pm Friday, July 27, 2018 at Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Private family funeral services will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery, near Coshocton, Ohio.
