Irene Greene's Obituary
NEWARK: A funeral service celebrating the life of Irene Greene, 85 of Newark will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18 at Family of Faith Community Church with Pastor Theodis Foy and Pastor Recoir Puryear officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Greene died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 27, 1927 in Quitman, GA to the late Jonas Golden, Sr. and Serilla Grant. Mrs. Greene was a member of Mt. Zion Holy Union Church of God. She was an ordained minister. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, plants and flowers. Above all she loved God and her family.
Survivors include her children, Henry Greene, Jr. of Sandusky, Walter Greene, Sr. of Newark, Lindsey Greene of Reedsville, Curtis Greene, Gregory Greene, and Cecil Greene, all of Newark, Jerlene Greene of Atlanta, GA, and Cassandra (Gregory) Williams of Newark; 33 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman Carnegie; sisters, Mattie McKinney and Mildred Roundtree.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Greene was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Greene, Sr.; a son, Michael Greene, Sr.; a daughter, Deborah Sue Greene; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Friends and family may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
