Iona L. Latham's Obituary
Iona (Hardesty) Latham left her temporary home at Autumn Health Care to be with the Lord on November 16, 2011 at 5:05 a.m. A special thanks to Hospice of Central Ohio for allowing Iona and her family to have peace at the end of her life.
A private funeral service for Iona L. Latham, 84, of Newark will be held at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Perry officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
She was born August 13, 1927 in Elyria, Ohio to the late Harold and Dora (Whitty) Hardesty.
Iona retired from the J.C. Penny Co. in 1976. She enjoyed working for the public very much and never knew a stranger. She attended the Faith United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Red Hats Ladies. She delighted in home life and the greatest joy was caring and watching her granddaughter Tiffany.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Donald R. Latham, whom she married August 5, 1950; daughter, Linda (Latham) LaRue of Newark; granddaughter, Tiffany LaRue of Newark; brother, Harold Hardesty of Coshocton; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor (Tom) Mattioni, Becky (Don) Arden; brother, Dick Hardesty all of Coshocton.
According to her wishes no calling hours will be observed.
