Harry A. Willey's Obituary
A memorial service for Harry A. Willey, 78 of Newark, will be held Tuesday September 18, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Katrick officiating. Military services will be conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Willey died Wednesday September 12, 2018, at his residence. He was born May 17, 1940 in Creston, Iowa to Harry Franklin Willey and Annetta Ruth (Worden) Hull.
Mr. Willey retired in 2009 from Bionetics as an electronics technician. He was transferred to Newark Air Force Base in 1983 and retired from the U. S. Air Force after 28 years of service in 1988 as a Senior Master Sgt.
He was active in the Aerospace Lodge F & AM and had served as a Past Worshipful Master of Heath Crusaders Lodge. He was also a member of Ohio Valley # 196 of York Rite Chapter and Council, Ohio Priory # 18 York Cross of Honour, St. George Commandery # 76, Knights Templar. He was a past Worthy Patron in Carnation Chapter # 167 OES and Wroena Chapter #589 OES, where he was currently the Associate Worthy Patron.
He is survived by fiancée, Sharon Hickman of Newark; children, Bruce (Lynn) Willey of Cedar Rapids, IA, Duane (Jane) Willey of Clive, IA, Lynn (Steve) Davis of Sterling, IL, Lisa (Eric) Scott of Davenport, IA, Catherine (Eric) Penrod of Albany, OH; the mother of the first four children, JoAnn (Low) Willey of Iowa City, IA; sisters, Carolann (Laura) Ewalt of Westchester, IA, Marcia (Melvin) Jenn of Iowa City, IA, Tanya Wright of Cedar Rapids, IA, Charlotte Hull & Don Fabian of Iowa City, IA; brothers, Earl (Linda) Hull of Iowa City, IA, Louis Hull of Costa Rica; thirteen grandchildren, Abigail, Mitchell, Nile, Clare, Cole, Grace, Trey, Hannah, Sarah, Nolan, Caleb, Madeline, Aubrey, two great-grandchildren, Domingo, Norah; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert; his father, Harry Franklin Willey; mother and step-father, Annetta Ruth (Worden) Hull and Everett “Shorty” Hull.
A visitation will be held Tuesday September 18, 2018, from 4 pm to 6:30 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street, Newark. Eastern Star services will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Masonic Services will be at 6:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions are requested to the Ohio Eastern Star Home 1451 Gambier Road, Mt. Vernon, OH 43050. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
