Gertrude M Grove's Obituary
A funeral service for Gertrude M. Grove, 73 of Newark will be held Friday May 25, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. in the Newark chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Corbin Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Grove died Monday May 21, 2018 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born April 18, 1945 in Newark to Benjamin Franklin and Florence Evelyn (Hoskinson) Coble.
Mrs. Grove was a former cashier at the Heath Walmart store for twelve years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and creating craft items. Her life ambition was taking care of everyone and everything. She fulfilled that goal as a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker. Later years were devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always stayed close to her life and friends in Little Texas.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Raymond Grove; daughters, Lucinda (David) Mays of Frazeysburg, Sarah (Shelton “Butch”) Burchard and Carolyn (Anthony) McCallister; brother, Charles “Bud” Coble; sister, Evelyn Blanton all of Newark; grandchildren, Anthony (Kristina) McCallister, Theresa Kelly, Colin (Brandon Murry) Bline, Caleb (Joanna Phelps) Scarberry, Karalyn (Justin) Scarberry-Young, Shelby (Nick Daniel) Burchard, Joshua Mays, Noah Mays, McKenzie Smith, Aiden Floyd; great-grandchildren, Briona, Breezie, Ethan, Colton, Leona, Wyatt, Owen, Mia, Catarina, Bryson; she had a special relationship with her granddaughters, Stephanie Strobel, Summer Murry and nephew, Rodney (Sara) Coble; also a longtime best friend, Sheela O’Donnell of Marne; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sister, Anna Bay; nephew, Donnie Bay and her special dog, Kinita.
Calling hours will be observed Thursday May 24, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Newark Chapel of VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 W. Main St.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio P.O. Box 430 Newark, Ohio 43058-0430. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
