Geraldine M. "Jean" Carpenter's Obituary
Funeral services for Geraldine M. “Jean” Carpenter, 94 of Hanover will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor McKinley Brown officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
Mrs. Carpenter died Tuesday evening, August 29, 2017 at the Country Lane Gardens in Pleasantville, Ohio. She was born April 24, 1923 in Newark to Dewey and Lillie (Shannon) Sudduth.
She was retired from Westinghouse. She was a member of the Together Ministries, Thornville Campus. She loved to sing, collected owls and enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors include her sister, Eva Johnson of Newark; nieces, Dianna Johnson of Newark, Carol Johnson of Vermillion; nephew, Wayne (Becky) Johnson of Newark; great niece, Julie (Charlie) DePriest of Newark; great nephew, Kevin (Anna) Johnson of Prague; great-great nephew, Anthony Johnson; and many church friends including Dennis and Cecilia Brown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Robert R. Carpenter, who died August 23, 2015; and a nephew, Dale Johnson.
Calling hours will be observed one hour prior to services Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 West Main Street, Newark.
