Gary H. Preston's Obituary
A funeral service for Gary H. Preston, 79 of Thornville will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday October 31, 2025 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home | Newark with Pastor Corbin Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Visitation will be observed from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Preston passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born November 1, 1945 in Paintsville, KY to the late Ernest and Sara (Butcher) Preston.
Gary was currently employed at the Buckeye Lake, Beach House Pub. He was a retired manager at Abbot Labs. He was a member of the Buckeye Lake Moose Lodge # 2434, a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and The OSU Buckeyes. He enjoyed western movies, woodworking and researching historical items. He was especially interested in studying print shops. His favorite pastime was being a devoted grandfather.
He is survived by his children, Marci (Adam) Britton of Newark, Gary Preston, II of Columbus; grandchildren, Brooke (Traviss) Moore, Amanda (Frank) Lamberti, Ashley (Steven) Pack, Tabytha Preston, Kevona Preston, Ford Britton and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Cheryl Preston, Kimberly (Jerry) Dillon; grandson, Brett Dillon; siblings, Patsy Preston and Ernie (Betty) Preston.
