I know that there's nothing to say when a loss like this occurs which can make it any easier to bear.
But Gary helped me through the absolute worst part of my life and K will forever be grateful to him for his insight, kindness, and support.
I hope that he finds nothing but peace and joy in the next life. Because he certainly helped to save mine.
My deepest sympathy to Lauren. (and David) and Emily (and Bryan) and their families in the sudden loss of their father. He was a nice man and obviously a great father. If you truly got to know Gary you loved him. He was a wise, funny, kind friend and he was devoted to others. I worked side by side with Gary in Virginia and he had a great impact on my life and career; then and after!
I had the pleasure of working with Gary a couple of years ago. He was one of those people that just put off good vibes - quick with a smile, never complained, thoughtful, and always friendly.
I feel lucky to have known him.
Gary counsels my daughter. Present tense because his wise words given with unyielding grace, compassion, and love will no doubt echo on throughout her years and mine.

God Bless and comfort you. I worked with Gary at Moundbuilders, never knowing he was a CBC graduate and former minister. I graduated from KCC; what a blessing to know we shared that past. His faith and love for people was evident in his life as a counselor.
My college roommate. He could always make me laugh. A good friend I didn’t see often enough over the years. Prayers sent to family and friends.
Thoughts and prayers to the family. Gary and the entire Heck family was an important part of our church experience at Englewood in Indianapolis. Rest in arms of our savior my old and dear friend.

I worked with Gary at Southeast. Reading his obituary and hearing of his work with the church was something I was unaware of, but makes so much sense as Gary was full of love and compassion for those who are struggling. My condolences to his family, he will be missed.
