Fred R. McClain's Obituary
Fred McClain rested in peace on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. He was born April 30, 1940 to the late Silas and Ida McClain. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Fred retired from Kaiser Aluminum and Wenco (Jeld Wen). In addition, he worked at his family owned Sohio Gas Station; owned and operated several businesses which included snow plowing/removal, construction/repair and Hidden Treasures Antiques.
Fred was a beloved husband, father, son, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, boating, camping, listening to country music, yard work and wood working. Fred is now reunited with the love of his life, Betty, whom he was married to for 48 years.
He is survived two daughters, Debbie Goodin and Renee (David) Copper; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Joe) Wiley, Becki (Ray) Allgood, Anthony Anderson, Joshua Brun, Jacob Brun, Lain Copper, Lyla Copper and Dylan Copper; five great grandchildren; a sister, June Taylor of Michigan; many nieces and nephews; and friend, Francis Morris and her family members.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Alexander Anderson; brothers-in-law, Joe Taylor and Tex Anderson.
Friends and family may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2021 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME – NEWARK CHAPEL, 1850 W. Main St., Newark.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Executive Pastor Larry Miller officiating. Burial will be at Newark Memorial Gardens.
