Francis "Frank" Janks' Obituary
A funeral service for Francis “Frank” S. Xavier Janks, 97 of Port Charlotte, FL and formerly Hebron will be held Saturday June 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Deacon Patrick Wilson as celebrant. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens with military services conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Janks died Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Port Charlotte Hospice House. He was born December 2, 1917 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Walter and Joanna (Tomkiewicz) Jankiewicz.
Mr. Janks retired in 1982 from Kaiser Aluminum as a fabricator with 30 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church of Buckeye Lake, United Steelworkers Union, and Hebron Historical Association. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, BPOE and American Legion Posts in both Ohio and Florida. His past times included golf, gardening and was an accomplished cook.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Margaret E.(Seman) Janks, whom he married May 3, 1941; three children, James (Connie) Janks of Marion, OH, Thomas (Jane) Janks of Englewood, OH, Mary (Tim) Lollo of Newark; grandchildren, Michael (Terri) Janks of Blacklick, OH, Melissa Janks of Circleville, Sonja (Craig) Rizzo of Syracuse, NY, Sharon (Brian) Hunter of Springfield, Stephana Lollo of Newark; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Janks, Brandi Janks, Ryan Janks, Sammi Rizzo, Catherine Rizzo, Joseph Szablewski, Susan Szablewski; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be observed Friday June 26, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street, Newark.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Port Charlotte Hospice House, 1158 Veronica St., Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
