Frances "Happy" Gault's Obituary
A funeral service for Frances “Happy” Levingston Gault, 97 of Newark will be held Monday March 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Fork Cemetery, Hickman, OH. Calling hours will be observed from 10 a.m. until services.
Frances Loal Gault passed away Wednesday March 22, 2017 at SharonBrooke in Newark, OH. She was born December 27, 1919 in Hanover, OH to the late Sydney and Ethel (Davis) Levingston. She was married to Chester Ray Gault on October 25, 1946, who preceded her in death on April 27, 2016.
Surviving are her niece, Beth Anne (Rob) Young; nephews, James (Carol) Levingston, Jeff (Cynthia) Levingston; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother in law, Mary Elizabeth Levingston (Marion) Ashcraft; brother and sister in law, Robert Eli (Gladys Marie) Levingston; sisters in law and brothers in law, Dorothy Gault (Roe) Houdeshell, Frances Gault (Roy) Ashcraft, Margaret Gault (John) Scrafford, Willard (Mary) Gault and nephew Robert Allen Ashcraft.
“Happy” graduated from Hanover High School in 1937 and Newark Business College in 1939. She retired as a secretary from the downtown office of Ohio Power (American Electric Power) after 44 years of service.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she and Chester were active in the Deux Cum class. She volunteered in many activities of the church and enjoyed years of friendship there. She loved her time volunteering for over thirty years at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved working with Chester on various projects and crafts. They were seen most evenings walking together around the neighborhood.
The family wishes to thank the Chesteretts for coming to SharonBrooke to sing and all of the staff at SharonBrooke and Home Instead for the care they provided.

A lunch will be served at the funeral home immediately following the ceremony before the committal service at Rocky Fork Cemetery.
