Ella "Jean" Richardson's Obituary
Ella “Jean” Richardson, 88, of Heath, Ohio passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 28, 2017 at the Heath Nursing Care Center under Bella Hospice care.
Born May 1, 1928 in Trinway, Ohio she was a daughter of the late George Ernest and Lanah Ellen (Scanlon) Miller.
Jean met her future husband, Delbert Richardson, in Frazeysburg where she worked at a general store. They married April 27, 1947 and after a honeymoon to Niagara Falls they settled into married life in Toboso, Ohio. After Delbert’s death on March 6, 1978 she later moved to Newark, Ohio.
Jean loved to bake, especially yeast breads and cinnamon rolls and she loved to teach others how to bake yeast breads. She was also known for her chicken and noodles. In her later years, she taught herself to hand piece quilts, many of which are cherished by her family.
She is survived by three children, Warren (Lesli) Richardson of Tampa, Florida, Debbie (Kin) Norris of Cape Coral, Florida and Ellen (Glenn) Divan of Heath; two grandsons, Jon (Stacy) Richardson and Jason Richardson and three great granddaughters. Also surviving are her siblings, Anna Mae Moore, Betty (Bill) Starling, Mary Brady, Helen Holt, Irene Smith, Doris Alcock, Eddie Miller and Bobby Miller, a sister in-law, Amy Stockdale and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by their infant son, Dale Ernest Richardson and a sister Florence Starling.
Her wishes were to be cremated and her ashes interred beside her husband, Delbert, in Hanover Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Heath Nursing Care Center, Bella Hospice and Dr. Campolo for their compassionate care of Jean.
Calling hours will be from 11am to 1pm Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Rosser officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
