Earl F. "Fred" Craley, Sr.'s Obituary
A funeral service celebrating the life of Earl F. “Fred” Craley, Sr., 87 of Granville will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Long officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Fred passed away January 3, 2017 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Crestline, OH in 1929 to the late Clarence E. and Violette A. (Voegele) Craley. A 1947 graduate of Caledonia High School, he attended Bradley University where he studied watchmaking. He retired from the Newark Air Force Base and operated Time Square Watch Repair. Fred served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Sertoma, bowling leagues, the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors and Centenary United Methodist Church. Fred loved making and repairing watches and clocks and he enjoyed Studebaker Automobiles.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine; son, Earl F. Craley, Jr. of Marysville; daughters, Deborah McGowan of Cardington, OH and Sandra (John) Noel of New Albany, OH; grandchildren, Katie Craley of Logan, OH, Teresa (Matt) Carwell of Edison, OH, Loren (Chris) Jackson of Kaiserslautern, Germany, Thomas McGowan of Shelbyville, IN, Tyler Noel and Adam Noel, both of New Albany; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a brother, Kenneth A. Craley of Shelby, OH; and many other dear friends and relatives.
Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
