Dorothy E. Smith's Obituary
Dorothy E. Smith, 91, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Wednesday afternoon, July 13, 2022 at Clay Gardens Place in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born December 29, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Celia Ashcraft and was a 1948 graduate of Frazeysburg High School. That summer she was proud to be selected as the Frazeysburg Homecoming Queen for 1948. Dorothy worked at the Muskingum County Extension Office for several years and was a 4-H advisor. Later she was employed as a stock person and cashier at Kroger’s for over 30 years.
Surviving is one son and daughter in-law, Jeff and KC Smith of Frazeysburg; four grandchildren, Adam Smith, David (Kayela) Smith, Matthew Smith and Ali (Evan) Hodel and one great granddaughter, Kyiah Smith.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 70 years, Leonard Gene Smith, whom she married October 8, 1950 and who died July 29, 2020; a son Michael D. Smith who died May 8, 2021 and a sister, Julia Moore.
Calling hours will be 9am to 10am Monday, July 18, 2022 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Graveside funeral services will be 10:30am Monday, July 18, 2022 at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery where Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her loving husband, Leonard. Mr. David McCann will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to Frazeysburg Volunteer Fire Department.
