Donald W. Griffith's Obituary
A funeral service for Donald W. Griffith, 89 of Granville will be Monday, April 23, 2012 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Lippiatt officiating. Burial will be at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Griffith died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Licking Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 17, 1922 in Granville to the late Herbert and Bessie (Cornell) Griffith. He graduated from Granville High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, being honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Mr. Griffith worked for Meadow Gold Dairy for many years and also for ODOT. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, and a charter member of Moundbuilders Sertoma. He enjoyed reading, Ohio State sports and watching golf.
Survivors include his son, David (Sherry) Griffith of Newark; grandchildren, Darin Griffith of Frazeysburg, Linda Griffith, and Tyler Griffith, both of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffith was preceded in death by his wife, P. Yvonne Griffith, whom he married January 9, 1949 and who died April 2, 2006; two brothers, and one sister.
Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main St., Newark.
