Donald L. "Donnie" Garno's Obituary
A funeral service for Donald L. “Donnie” Garno, 63 of Newark will be held Thursday May 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Schieber officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Mr. Garno died Sunday May 10, 2015 at his residence. He was born August 3, 1951 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to the late Lewis H. and Catherine M. (Green) Garno.
He was retired from Rockwell International in Marysville, Ohio. He enjoyed deer and rabbit hunting. He spent many hours in the woods searching for mushrooms. He was well known on the putt-putt golf course being referred to as “The Legend”. He had a love for corvettes and had owned several. He would spend time visiting with many of his friends at the Village Inn in Utica.
He is survived by his daughter, Crystal (Shawn ) Stidham of Newark; two grandchildren, Olivia Stidham and Tyler Stidham; sister-in-law, Frances Garno of Newark; aunt & uncle, Ray and Juanita Green of Newark; several nieces and nephews including Cathy (Tim) Klunk of York, PA, Bryan (Rebekah) Garno of Newark, Carl (Laurie) Garno of Newark; and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Penny (Storer) Garno who died January 9, 2014; sister, Marilyn K. Garno; brother, Carl L. Garno, Sr.
Calling hours will be observed Wednesday, May 13, 2014 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
