Darrell G. Bennett's Obituary
A funeral service Darrell G. Bennett, 80 of Newark will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Conley officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Bennett died Friday, November, 7, 2014 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born February 1, 1934 in Buckhannon, W.Va. to Noah and Lelah (Hinkle) Bennett.
Mr. Bennett had been employed by Holophane, Heisey Glass and was a truck driver for Commercial–Lovelace Freight for over 30 years. He was helpful in starting the Got Junk business in Newark. He also had worked at Jeff’s Laundromat. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He would stop and shop at many yard sales and flea markets in his travels. He and his wife spent many winters in Florida. His family was very important in his life.
He is survived by a step-daughter, Lutricia Justice of Haydenville; sister, Pearl (Paul) Hocutt of Newark, brother, Leo Bennett of Newark; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Glenna (Wigal) Bennett who died on April 19, 2014; four sisters, Osie, Zola, Hazel, Lonie; seven brothers, Oliver, Edward, Lida, Hayward, Woodford, Boyd and Herbert.
Calling hours will be observed Tuesday, November, 11, 2014 from 11 am to 1 pm at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
