Dan Vaia's Obituary
Dan Vaia, 79 of Newark passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio.
Dan was born August 2, 1946 in Newark to the late Pete and Mary (Rufus) Vaia. A 1964 graduate of Newark High School, Dan served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He received his Bachelor degree from The Ohio State University.
Alongside his family, he operated Dan’s Family Restaurant in Newark for many years.
Survivors include his loving wife, Virgie (Binckley) Vaia; daughters, Michelle Vaia, Allison Vaia; grandchildren, Ja’mir and Daisi; and a brother, Jim Vaia.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by a brother, George Vaia; and a sister, Lula Vaia.
Friends and family may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
Private burial will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
