Clarence Donn Bonifield's Obituary
A funeral service for Clarence Donn Bonifield, 84 of Newark will be held Monday, October 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Pierce officiating. Burial will be in the Dresden Cemetery.
Mr. Bonifield died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family and beloved pets. Mr. Bonifield was born August 12, 1928 in Coshocton to the late Clarence O. and Mina (Krebs) Bonifield.
Mr. Bonifield retired in 1986 from CSX as an engineer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a 1946 graduate of Jefferson HS in Dresden and was the center on the Jayhawks basketball team. He received an Associate Degree from Franklin University. He was a 63 year member of the Dresden Masonic Lodge F & AM # 103. He was also a lifetime member of the Dresden American Legion Post # 399. His family was his greatest treasure. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and bird watching. He traveled to many yard sales and collected knives and tools. He was very accomplished at billiards and won several awards. He was an avid fan of the North Carolina Tarheels.
He is survived by his children, Deborah Jo and Tom Bibart of Conway, SC, Bradley Donn Bonifield of Raliegh, NC, Julie Kay Bonifield-Hollis and Shawn Rowland of Mt. Perry; grandchildren, Mallory Evelyn Bibart, Stephee Kay Bibart, Thomas Ashton Donn Bibart, Jazzica Tennille Bibart, Hunter Andrew Bibart; special friends, Kathy Patch and Stephanie Simpson.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary (West) Bonifield, July 18, 2005; brother, James Bonifield; infant child Bonifield and grandchild Rowland.
Calling hours will be observed Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Newark Chapel of VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
Additional calling hours will be observed Monday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Dresden Chapel of VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 714 Main Street, Dresden.
