Carolyn D. Dunlap's Obituary
A funeral service for Carolyn D. Dunlap 71 of Newark will be held Thursday March 14, 2019 at 1 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main St. with Pastor Judith Baker officiating. Calling hours will be observed one hour before the services.
Mrs. Dunlap died Saturday March 9, 2019 at her home following an extended illness. She was born November 14, 1947 to James and Sara (Wright) Horton in South Shore, KY located on the bank of the Tiger Creek near the Ohio River.
Carolyn was a hairdresser for over 40 years and owned and operated Carol’s Cut-N-Curl in Newark. She was a 1965 graduate of McKell High School and a graduate of Cosmetology School with a Manager’s License.
She enjoyed traveling to Canada, baking and visiting with people. She especially cherished time spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Terry Dunlap, whom she married January 14,1980 in Winchester, VA; sisters, Lou (Frank) Steele,Kate (Ken) Bringenberg all of Florida, Betty (Dale) Arnold of PA; brothers, Tom (Toni) Horton of NC, David (Monabell) Horton of OH; children, Tim (Teri) Dunlap of Newark, Kay Dunlap of Pataskala, David Dunlap of Pickerington, Linda (Rodney) Bond of Fremont, Brenda (Pat) Spear of Nashport; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sisters, Georgia Horton, Nan Horton; brothers, James “Bud” Horton, Milford Horton, Roy Horton, Gary Horton, Harold Horton.
The family requests memorial contributions to Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio P.O. Box 430, Newark, OH 43058-0430. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
