Carl R. Snyder's Obituary
NEWARK: A funeral service for Carl R. Snyder, 96 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Sherman Romine officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.
Mr. Snyder died Wednesday evening, May 25, 2011 at his home. He was born December 8, 1914 in Appleton, Wisconsin to the late Henry and Beulah (Bagent) Snyder. Mr. Snyder graduated from Newark High School and served his country in the U.S. Army Airborne during World War II. He was retired from B&O Railroad where he had worked as a Freight Conductor. Mr. Snyder was a member of the American Legion, Railroad Steamers, and the Church of God of Licking County.
Survivors include his children, Mike Snyder, Patrick (Vee) Snyder, Kathleen (Robert Kinnaman) Snyder, Terrence Snyder, Richard (Terri) Snyder, Jay (Marcia) Snyder; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend and caregiver, Wanda Schibly.
In addition to his parents Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by his wife Eileen Elizabeth Snyder, whom he married April 16, 1947 and who died August 15, 2004; and a daughter Marianne Rieck.
Friends and family may call 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2011 at the VENSIL-ORR & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main St., Newark.
