Carl D. Roberts' Obituary
A funeral service for Carl D. Roberts, 86 of Heath will be Thursday April 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Belt officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens with Military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Roberts died Monday April 23, 2018 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born July 23, 1931 in Buckeye Lake to Lewis Francis and Dorothy Marie (Thompson) Roberts, Sr.
He retired in July of 1988 after 38 years with Owens-Corning Fiberglas. He was a 1949 graduate of Hebron High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was a volunteer firefighter, serving as Assistant Chief, for both the Buckeye Lake and Heath Fire Departments. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and gardening. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Arletta L. (Dollison) Roberts, whom he married June 13,1959; sons, Randy (Melissa) Roberts of Heath, Robin (Lanie) Roberts of Ashland, OH, John Roberts of Heath; grandchildren, Chelsea (Travis) Stewart of Newark, Ansley Roberts of Denver, CO, Katelyn (Kyle) Robey of Ashland, Lindsey Roberts of Columbus, Sam (Jenna)Roberts of Ashland; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Stewart, Evangeline Stewart, Ruth Anne Robey; brothers, Lewis F. (Mary Jo) Roberts of Baxter, TN, David (Cynthia) Roberts of Turlock, CA; several nieces and nephews and canine companion, Buckeye.
Calling hours will be observed Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058-0430 or the Heath Fire Department, 193 Heath Road, Heath, Ohio 43056. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
