Brock D. Lewis' Obituary
A Celebration of Life for Brock D. Lewis, 34, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Newark Church of the Nazarene. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church, 200 S. Williams Street, Newark, OH.
Brock passed away tragically on July 3, 2026, as the result of suicide. He was born on October 28, 1991, in Newark, Ohio, to the late Jerry J. Hottinger and Patricia A. (Smith) Lewis.
Brock was an incredibly special soul whose bright blue eyes and unforgettable smile reflected the kindness, compassion, and love he carried within. He had a way of making people laugh, making others feel welcome, and reminding those around him that even the smallest moments together mattered. Though he quietly carried burdens that many could not see, those who knew Brock will remember him for his generous heart, his gentle spirit, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.
Brock’s life was marked not only by the love he shared, but also by the challenges he faced with his mental health and addiction. Those struggles never defined who he was. He was so much more than the battles he fought. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, a nephew, a cousin, and a loyal friend who was deeply loved by so many. His death is a heartbreaking reminder that mental illness and addiction can affect anyone, and that every person deserves compassion, understanding, and hope.
Brock is survived by his loving siblings, Hollie (Shaun) Linton, MacKenzie Lewis, and Christie Lewis; his beloved nieces and nephews, who brought him great joy; and countless extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willie H. Lewis.
In honor of Brock’s life and in the hope of helping others, a memorial fund has been established in his name at First Federal Savings of Newark. The fund will be transferred to the Licking County Foundation to create a lasting legacy supporting mental health awareness, substance use, addiction services, and initiatives that serve individuals experiencing homelessness. This fund will help provide hope, healing, and support to others facing the challenges he so bravely endured.
While our hearts are broken, we take comfort in the love Brock shared, the memories he leaves behind, and the hope that his soul has found peace. He will be remembered always…..not for how he left this world, but for the kindness he showed, the lives he touched, and the immeasurable love he leaves behind.
“I love you, and that is the beginning and end of everything.”
