Billy Wayne Williamson's Obituary
Billy Wayne Williamson, 82 of Newark passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, September 11, 2015. He was born August 9, 1933 in Dyersburg, TN to the late Guy and Ellen Williamson.
Billy married Doris Ellen Ennis in 1953 and they settled in Newark where they raised their family. Billy worked as an over-the-road driver for many local trucking firms and retired several years ago as an independent truck driver after many years and miles.
Billy loved his family. He was crazy about his grandkids and they were crazy about him. He spent many hours at McDonalds showing them off to his retired friends, volunteering at their schools, and spending time at the park with them.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by twin siblings and sister in-laws, Wade (Margaret) and Wilton (Melba) Williamson.
Survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris; son, Jeffrey (Huicha) Williamson; daughter, Carolyn (James) Matthews; grandchildren, Drisa (Nathan) Paynter, Jamie Matthews, William Sewards, Ashley Donaker, Marjorie Matthews, Mary (Daniel) Nicholson; great grandchildren, Emma Paynter, Kasey Paynter and Ben Nicholson; siblings, Mary Ellen (Robert) Ryan of Floral Park, NY, Sarah (Larry) Edwards of St. Petersburg, FL and Brenda Conley of Youngstown, OH.
A memorial service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME with Ralph Nethers officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main St., Newark.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Generation Hospice and the staff at Flint Ridge for their caring and kindness during Billy’s long battle.
