Gary Crego
I met Billy many years ago through my friend Jerry Weiber. Whenever I came back to Newark to visit Jerry and I would always make time to visit him at least once or twice. We would have one or maybe a few beers and a shot or two out in the shed, which Billy kept on hand for visitors . I was fascinated by his stories of being a glassblower and his interaction with friends and others from many years ago in the Newark area and elsewhere. He had many amusing and interesting stories. He didn't care to talk much about his military service during World War ll, but make no mistake, he was a true American hero. I found him to be a fascinating person and he will be missed. A piece of Licking County history is gone. Rest easy....
