Beverly J. Cote's Obituary
A funeral service celebrating the life of Beverly J. Cote, 84 of Newark will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Conrad officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
Mrs. Cote passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born May 25, 1934 in Lorain, OH to the late Liva H. and Maxine (LaFrance) Penson. A graduate of Lorain High School, Mrs. Cote had owned and operated Cote’s Jewelry in Lorain with her late husband. Additionally, she had several jobs in sales throughout her career. She enjoyed working, traveling and listening to bluegrass music. She, herself was a talented musician, able to play multiple instruments. Mrs. Cote loved bicycling. She participated in Pelotonia several times, riding 50 miles at age 80. Described as a “people person” , Mrs. Cote loved to laugh and found the positive in everyone she came in contact with. Most importantly, she was a devoted Christian who had been born again.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Cote of Newark; life-long best friend, Lois Griggs of Newark; her companion, Bob Snedden of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice J. Cote, September 28, 2010.
Friends and family may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2018 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME – NEWARK CHAPEL, 1850 W. Main St., Newark.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute or to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio.
