Betty J. Thompson's Obituary
A Homegoing Celebration for Betty J. Thompson, 87 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2025 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Charlene Baxter, Pastor Marie Shackleford and Bishop Romell Johnson presiding.
Betty went home to be with her Lord Sunday evening, December 29, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 3, 1937 in Columbus, OH to the late Fred and Vera (Milner) Elliott, Sr. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Betty will be greatly missed by her family.
Survivors include her children, Ned (Kelli) Thompson, Desi Thompson, Dion (Steven) Price and Felicia Thompson; sisters, Gloria Elliott, Shirley Allen, Edwina Flemister Gladys Elliott, Erma Elliott, Pastor Charlene Baxter and Pastor Marie (Daniel) Shackleford, Sr.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a special friend, Manuel Turner.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore B. Thompson; a son, Michael Thompson; two daughters, Jacqueline R. Bradley and Beverly Ann Green; five brother, Fred Elliott, Jr., Edward Elliott, Donald Elliott, John Elliott, Robert Elliott; a sister, Mamie Ellis; and a great-grandchild.
Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service from10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
