Betty J. Simpson's Obituary
A funeral service for Betty J. Simpson, 90 of Newark will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Reimer officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
Mrs. Simpson died Sunday morning April 9, 2017 at her residence. She was born December 13, 1926 in Toboso, OH to Calvin R. and Mary Alice (Ford) Esworthy.
She grew up in Toboso, married Pastor Paul E. Simpson July 23, 1943 and devoted her life to serving the Lord. She was very active in the church ministry as a pianist, organist, secretary and mission work. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. Her past times included crocheting and completing puzzles. Her favorite color was definitely purple.
She is survived by her daughter, Melanee K. Simpson of Painesville, OH; grandchildren, Joel M. (Danielle) Herrmann of Miranda, N.S.W. Australia, Kathleen L. Herrmann of Newark; five great-grandchildren, Darcy, Aleister, Felix, Avalon and Merivale Herrmann; brother, Calvin L. (Hazel) Esworthy of Newark; aunt, Bertha Grossenbacher of Canton; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Paul E. Simpson; brothers, Robert G. Esworthy, Larry R. Esworthy and Joseph E. Esworthy.
Calling hours will be observed Tuesday evening, April 11, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the NEWARK CHAPEL – VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
