Betty Katherine Forgey's Obituary
A funeral service for Betty Katherine Forgey, 59 of Newark will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. JCP Sullivan, St. Francis de Sales Parish Priest officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Betty passed away peacefully Monday morning, April 29, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 4, 1953 in Zanesville to the late Donald Emerson and Delores Mae (Aber) Fox. A graduate of Lakewood High School class of 1971, she retired from Newark City Schools Food Service where she was known by the kids as “The Lunch Lady”. Betty married her high school sweatheart, Stephen C. Forgey, March 18, 1972. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored.
Survivors include her children, Theresa Lorraine Woodgeard, Heather Marie (Faron) Hall, Donald Edwin (Elizabeth) Forgey, all of Newark; grandchildren, Miranda Taylor, Wyatt Emerson Woodgeard, Kenneth Stephen Hall and Kyleigh Marie Stewart; brothers and sisters, Pamela (George) Zabel, Ruth (Bert) Hopkins, Donna (Jeff) Smith, William (Maria) Fox, and Frank (Gretchen) Fox; brothers and sisters in-law, Jay (Laura) Forgey, Marsha Hopeck, Jim (Yael) Forgey, Loretta (Gary) Freeland, Mary (Jim) McNulty and Carol (Mark) Wachter; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews to whom she was affectionately known as one of “The Greats”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen C. Forgey, August 12, 2009; a son Eric Stephen Forgey; and her mother and father in-law, Edwin Neil Forgey, Sr. and Claire M. (Cronin) Forgey.
Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the NEWARK CHAPEL of VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:00 p.m.
