Barbara J. Cost's Obituary
A funeral service for Barbara J. Cost, 76 of Newark will be held Wednesday December 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Eric Miller officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
Barbara died Thursday December 22, 2016 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born February 1, 1940 in Evansville, IN to Clyde William and Goldie Bea (Oakley) Adams.
She was employed as a childcare provider for over 20 years with the Licking County Job & Family Services. She had also served as a grill cook at Dagwood’s Restaurant for many years. She had belonged to several Bowling Leagues at both Valley and Park Lanes. She was a member of a Euchre Club. She enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel during the holiday season and the History Channel programs Last Frontier, Alaskan Bush people, Alaskan Railroad, Life Below Zero. She has been collecting angels for many years. Barb had a deep love for her family and all children.
Survivors include her children, Jeffrey (Kathey) Cost of Massillon, Gregory Cost of Powell, Sharon (Edward) Bolen of Newark, Timothy Cost of Newark; granddaughters, Jamie Sklar of Tiffin, Jaclyn Cost of Columbus, Jillian Cost of Bexley, Gracie Simpson, Newark; great-grandchildren, Connor, Derrick, Bradley; brother, William Gerald “Sonny” (Lyndia) Adams of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; sisters, Wanda (Royce) Pettyjohn of Cincinnati, Brenda (Thomas) Garrett of Evansville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings, two infants, Allie Mae Adams, James Franklin Adams; Juanita (Darrel) Smith, Wilma Smith, Marie (Paul) Merrill.
Calling hours will be observed Tuesday December 27, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main St.
