Angelina Kilgore's Obituary
A homegoing service celebrating the life of Angelina E. “Angie” Kilgore, 65 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 383 Washington Street, Newark with Rev. Dr. Michael A. Noble, Sr. officiating. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Southlawn Cemetery, Coshocton, Ohio.
Angie went home to glory on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born July 18, 1951 in Coshocton to the late Jonas and Ophelia (Butler) Barron.
Angie retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) in 2007 after 25 years of service. She was one of the first black women to plow snow for ODOT and was very proud of that accomplishment. While at ODOT she was a strong Union leader. She held several offices with OCSEA/AFSCME Local 11; including President of Knox/Licking Chapter 4500, President of District 5 Council, member of OCSEA state board of directors, Chairperson of OCSEA Political Action Committee and member of the OCSEA Women’s Action Committee. Additionally, she was a devout Christian and longtime member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she loved singing in the choir and had served as Chairperson of the Catering Ministry. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Thaddeus Kilgore, Jr., whom she married December 17, 2005; three sons, Ted Wiley of Newark, Lance (Heather) Wiley of Xenia, Joseph (Jessica) Wiley of Heath; grandchildren, Tristen, Olympia, Trinity, Kordell and Zayven; a brother, Mark Stevens of Newark; several cousins; and her pets, Carmello and Cecil.
Friends and family may call 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME – NEWARK CHAPEL, 1850 West Main Street, Newark; and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in memory of Angie. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
