Alvie W. "Bill" Lampton's Obituary
A funeral service for Alvie W. ”Bill” Lampton, 84 of Mt. Perry will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Iden officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Forks Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Lampton died Sunday January 29, 2017 at the Thornville Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 4, 1932 in Hopewell Twp., Licking Co. to the late Irville E. and Mildred E. (White) Lampton.
Mr. Lampton retired after 17 years at Kaiser Aluminum. He also was the groundskeeper at Ohio Historical Society at Moundbuilders Park for 21 years. He was a member of Kaiser Retirees, Franklin Grange and Brownsville Senior Citizens. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Alvie enjoyed farming, splitting firewood, attending tractor pulls and local stock car races.
He is survived by his son, Dale (Deborah) Lampton of Brownsville; daughter, Sharon (Ray) Gillespie of Zanesville; brother, Donald Lampton of Mt. Perry; grandchildren, Wendy Gillespie, Jonathan Gillespie of Zanesville, Patricia (William “Bill”) Allen of Philo, Jessica (Josh) Bobo of Nashport; great-grandchildren, Anthony Gillespie, Grace Schooley, Benjamin Gillespie, Wyatt Gillespie, Jessie Gillespie, Taylor Bobo (Cutler Cooley), Madison Bobo, Krysten Allen and Hannah Allen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Coble) Lampton in 2005.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Licking Memorial Hospital and Thornville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will be observed Wednesday from noon to service time at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
The family requests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society or Meals on Wheels. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
