Albert S. Stanton's Obituary
A funeral service for Albert S. Stanton, 82 of Newark will be held Saturday February 5, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home.
Mr. Stanton died Monday January 31, 2011 at the Newark Healthcare Centre. He was born September 20, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Ernest and Mildred (Roberts) Stanton.
Mr. Stanton retired in 1989 as a high tension lineman from the CSX rail system with 28 years of service. He had started his career with B & O Railroad later became the Chessie System and then CSX. He was a long time Pirates and Steelers fan. He enjoyed fishing. He helped coach his children’s little league teams. He was an honorary member of the Marine Corp League and honorary member of the International Thespian Society. He spent many hours playing internet games; including pogo games and solitaire. Many of his friends knew him as an avid OSU football fan.
He is survived by his children, Albert E. (Melodie) Stanton of Newark, James E. Stanton of Newark, Susanne (Rick) Costa of Newark, Christopher E. (Jean) Stanton of Hampshire, IL., Daniel E. (Deanna) Stanton of Bowling Green, Timothy E. (Stefanie) Stanton of Newark; twenty-one grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years whom he married October 15, 1952, Eugenia L. “Jeanne” (Raisis) Stanton, and died May 19, 2008; six brothers and six sisters.
Calling hours will be observed Saturday afternoon 2 to 5 p.m. at the NEWARK CHAPEL of VENSIL-ORR & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
